Funeral Potatoes

Funeral potatoes are very popular in the Mormon church. They call it funeral potatoes because it is are typically serve after a funeral. Nowadays it’s very common to have funeral potatoes at gatherings, events at church, or anytime year round.

These funeral potatoes are amazing! It is very flavorful and the cornflakes add a crunch to it. This cheesy potatoes are great as a side dish. I love bacon so I add it in mine. It will be a hit at your dinner table.

Ingredients:

  • 1 – 30 oz bag of Frozen Hash Brown, thawed
  • 1/2 cup Onions, diced
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 6 tbsp Butter, melted
  • 1 can of Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup Cornflakes
  • 1/2 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 pack Bacon, cooked and sliced (Optional)

 

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees. In a medium skillet, melt 2 tbsp of butter and saute the onions until translucent. Add in the minced garlic until fragrant. Remove from the skillet and set aside. Cook the bacon and cut it into bites pieces.
  2. In a large bowl mixed together the hash brown, onions, garlic, bacon, condensed cream of chicken soup, sour cream, parmesan cheese, 1 cup cheddar cheese, salt, and black peppers.
  3. Spread the mixture into a 9×13 baking pan. Add the remaining cheese on top.
  4. Melt the 4 tbsp of butter and mix the cornflakes with the Panko bread crumbs in a bowl. Spread the cornflakes and bread crumbs on top of the pan evenly.
  5. Bake for 60 minutes or until cooked.

  4. Slow cook it on low for 5-6 hours. Add in the cornstarch until the liquid is thick.
  5. Serve with cooked spaghetti. Enjoy!

I always buy spaghetti sauce at the store until I decided to make my own. This slow cooker meatballs and spaghetti is delicious! I used to bake my meatballs, but not anymore. Slow cook meatballs taste way better than bake meatballs.

Ingredients:

Meatballs

  • 1 1/2 lb Ground Beef
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Sauce

  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 cans Tomato sauce
  • 2 can Diced Tomato
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 4-5 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cooked Spaghetti



Directions:

In a large bowl, mix bread crumbs, salt, pepper, cheese, and eggs. Stir in the ground beef. Shape it into 1 1/2 inch balls and put it in the slow cooker.

  2. In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles, salt, and olive oil as instructed on the box. The olive oil will help the noodles from sticking to each other. When the noodles are cook, drain them.
  3. Diced the onion, minced the garlic and parsley
  4. In another pot, cook the Italian sausage. When it is cooked add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Drain.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes, diced onions, tomato paste, 1/2 of the parsley, basil, salt, black pepper.
  6. In a medium bowl, beat the egg. Then add ricotta cheese and the rest of the parsley. Fold them together.
  7. Add cheese to the bottom of a non grease pan then put 3 lasagna noodles on top.
  8. Add the meat sauce. Topped with cheese and parmesan cheese.
  9. Add another layer of lasagna noodles. Spread the ricotta cheese on top.
  10. Add the last layer of lasagna noodles and the rest of the meat sauce.
  11. Topped with more cheese and parmesan cheese.
  12. Put it in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  13. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes and enjoy!

Homemade lasagna is better than frozen ones. If you don’t finish it, you can always freeze it and reheat it later. It will still taste great. This Italian Sausage lasagna recipe is so good. Everyone has different taste, but you can easily adjust it to your taste.

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 lb Ground Italian Sausage
  • 9 Lasagna noodles
  • 1 Small onion, diced
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 6 oz Tomato paste
  • 1 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 1 tbsp Basil, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste



Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
